How to calculate cement, sand and coarse aggregate quantity in concrete?
Quantity of materials such as Cement, sand and coarse aggregate for concrete can be calculated by absolute method. In this method, the volume of fully compacted concrete is equal to the absolute volume of all the materials of concrete i.e. Cement, Sand, water, admixture and coarse aggregate. Concrete structure may be type of slab, column, footing, staircase, curb stone, circular column which is based on type of structure. The volume of the concrete required for this, can be calculated by summing up the volumes of each structure member.
For example:
The volume of the rectangular column can be calculated as Length × width × Height.

Calculate concrete parts using the formula
Concrete parts = Cement part + sand part + aggregate part + admixture
Cement Quantity
Cement quantity = (Cement part / Concrete parts) * Concrete volume * Dry volume factor
Cement quantity = (1/7.04) * 124 *1.55 =27.30 m³
Density of cement = 1440 kg/m³
Weight of cement = 27.3 * 1440 = 39313.64 Kg
Weight of one cement bag = 50 kg
Total bags = 39313.64 / 50 = 786 cement Bags
Sand quantity
Sand quantity = (2.48 / 7.04) * 124 * 1.55 = 67.707 m³
Aggregate Quantity
Aggregate Quantity = (3.55 / 7.04) * 124 * 1.55 = 96.919 m³
Admixture Quantity
Admixture quantity = Cement weight * Admixture dosage
Admixture quantity = 39313.636 * 0.01 = 393.136 Kg
Water Quantity
Water quantity = Cement weight * water-cement ratio
Water quantity = 39313.64 * 0.5 = 19656.82 Kg
Density of water = 1000 kg/m³, so 1 kg of water = 1 litre
Required amount of water = 19656.82 Litres
