Practical construction knowledge, published properly
Constropedia is the editorial arm of Binary and Bricks Pvt. Ltd. We build construction software, and we write the guides that explain the engineering behind it.
Who we are
Binary and Bricks Pvt. Ltd. is a construction software company based in Pune, India. We publish more than fourteen construction apps — calculators, estimating tools and site document libraries — that have been downloaded over 1.5 million times and are used by engineers and contractors in more than 150 countries.
Constropedia is where we write things down. Every calculation our apps perform rests on a method, a standard and a set of assumptions, and those deserve to be explained rather than hidden behind a result screen.
What we publish
Guides for people who build things: site engineers, contractors, quantity surveyors, builders and civil engineering students. Every article follows the same shape — the formula stated plainly, then applied to a worked example with real numbers, then a free calculator that does the arithmetic for you.
We lead with Indian Standards, because that is what most of our readers specify against, and note the ACI, BS EN and IRC equivalents wherever they differ materially. Where a value is a site convention rather than a code requirement, we say so.
How we pay for it
Constropedia is free and carries no advertising. It exists because our apps exist. Articles link to the relevant app where the app genuinely does the job better — offline, on a phone, in your hand at the pour — and to a free browser calculator where that is enough. We would rather you got the right answer from the free tool than the wrong one from anywhere.
Every commercial link on this site points to something we make. We do not carry third-party affiliate links, sponsored posts or paid placements. Our editorial policy sets out how that separation works in practice.
Corrections
Construction content that is wrong costs money and occasionally hurts people. If you find an error — a formula, a code reference, a worked example that does not add up — tell us and we will fix it and note the change. We would much rather be corrected than be quietly wrong.
