# How to calculate cement, sand and coarse aggregate quantity in concrete?

Quantity of materials such as Cement, sand and coarse aggregate for concrete can be calculated by absolute method. In this method , the volume of fully compacted concrete is equale to the absolute volume of all the material pf concrete i.e. Cement, Sand, water, admixture and coarse aggregate. Concrete structure may be type of slab, column, footing, staircase,, curb stone, circular column which is based on type of structure. The volume of the concrete required for this, can be calculated by summing up the volumes of each structure member.

Mix Ratio for M20 is **1: 2.48: 3.55**

Calculate concrete parts using by formula

Concrete parts = Cement part + sand part + aggregate part + admixture

**Cement Quantity**

Cement quantity = (Cement part / Concrete parts) * Concrete volume * Dry Volume

Cement quantity = (1/7.04) * 124 *1.55 =27.30 m³

Density of cement = 1440 kg/m³

Weight of cement = 27.3 * 1440 = 39313.64 Kg

Weight of cement bags = 50kg

Total bags = 39313.64 / 50 = 786 cement Bags

**Sand quantity**

Sand quantity = (2.48 / 7.04) * 124 * 1.55 = 67.707 m³

**Aggregate Quantity**

Aggregate Quantity = (3.55 / 7.04) * 124 * 1.55 = 96.919 m³

**Admixture Quantity**

Admixture quantity = Cement quantity * Admixture

Admixture quantity = 39313.636 * 0.01 = 393.136 Kg

**Water Quantity**

Water quantity = Cement volume * water-cement ratio

Water quantity = 27.301 * 0.5 = 13.650 m³

Unit weight of water = 1000 Liters/m³

Required amount of water = 13.650 * 1000 = 13650 Litres
